The course presents to students the design, development, applications and organisational impact of management information system and decision support system from the managerial perspective. Topics include system development life-cycle (SDLC), managerial perspective on computer hardware, software, communication technology, database management, and various information systems such as marketing information system, human resource information system, accounting information system and manufacturing information system.

This course provides an extension to the student’s knowledge acquired at the secondary school level and gives them a thorough grounding in basic mathematical and statistical techniques. In addition, it introduces and incorporates computer manipulation techniques into topics that require repetitive calculations. Topics include simple and compound interest, present value, indices, ratio analysis, calculus and matrices.
