Course info

This course introduces Yuan “qu” to students, including its development, rules and patterns, contents, styles, schools, and the differences between Yuan “qu” and other traditional poetry and plays. The history of Chinese opera is explained with the emphasis on Yuan “qu”. Distinguished writers’ contributions and their works of Yuan “qu” are dealt with.

本课程向学生传递“元曲”的相关概念，包含：散曲及戏曲的发展与流变，散曲及戏曲的体制﹑风格与内涵，散曲与其他传统诗体的分别，杂剧与其他传统戏剧的异同等。课程中对中国传统戏剧史将有一全面性鸟瞰，并介绍传统戏剧的表演方式及欣赏要领，但焦点乃在元代杂剧的产生及认识。课程亦将介绍元曲代表性作家的生平﹑风格及其影响，并引导学生赏析代表性元曲创作。
