This practical course will equip students with the skills to produce superior longform and enterprise stories that require in-depth research and high quality reporting to deliver narrative storytelling that engages the audience. Students learn to embrace and explore many innovative uses for digital and visual storytelling in multimedia reporting. While it is evident that the emotional content is at the heart of effective journalism, students will adopt transferable skills that can be incorporated into content and marketing strategies. Students learn to become content masters by using videos, audio recordings, photographs, transcripts and dozens of person-to-person interviews on visually-attractive interactive platforms, combined with parallax scrolling, widgets and other features. As students become better informed journalists and accomplished multimedia producers, they gain a better idea of how to present and publish stories that people want to read and share. Ultimately, students are trained to become early adapters of new technologies and applications to become narrative alchemists.
