Chinese thought is believed to have originated in “The Book of Changes” and taken shape during Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods. This includes the Confucian and Taoist schools of thoughts. The spread of Buddhism to China after Eastern Han Dynasty went through a process of Chinese influence and thus became one of the most important sources and causes of the development of Chinese thought.
This course presents students with a general introduction to Chinese thought. It focuses on the influential schools of thought, for example, Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. Besides, it discusses the trend of development of Chinese thought, so as to provide students with a basic understanding of the different schools of thought and the characteristics of Chinese culture and ideologies.
中国思想源远流长,自古老的《易经》以降,经历春秋战国时期的百家争鸣,包括儒道两家在内的诸子思想于是焉形成。东汉之后,印度佛教传入中国,经过汉化的过程之后,也成为中国思想的一大源流。本课程的设置,主要将广博的中国思想作一概要的介绍。课程内容略偏重于具有影响力的学派,如儒家、道家及佛家。此外,也将讨论中国思想的发展趋势,从而体认中国文化思想之特质。
