The course is designed to systematically introduce the fundamental theoretical knowledge of Chinese folk literature, guiding students to learn and comprehend the concepts and scope of Chinese folk literature, its relationship with written literature, its basic characteristics, functions, values, classification, fieldwork methods and research techniques. Additionally, the course will explain various genres within Chinese folk literature, such as myths, legends, folk tales, folk songs, epics, proverbs, riddles, and so on, as well as conducting detailed studies on specific works. This enables students to understand the rich content and unique value of Chinese folk literature, and develop the skills needed to analyze and appreciate these literary works.

本课程意在系统介绍中国民间文学的基础理论知识，引导学生学习与认识民间文学的概念、范围、与作家文学的关系、基本特征、功能与价值、分类、田野作业的基本方法及研究方法等，并通过对神话、民间传说、民间故事、民间歌谣、史诗、谚语与谜语、说唱与小戏等体裁的讲解以及对具体作品的研读，使学生能理解中国民间文学的丰富内容与独特价值，并能初步掌握分析鉴赏民间文学作品的能力。
