"This course discusses the development of Chinese classical novels, and guide students to read novels intensively. For classical Chinese novels, works from Ming Qing Notes are selected. The introduction to vernacular novels will be mainly on short novels, i.e. Ming and Qing Dynasty ""Ni Hua Ben"" and ""Liao Zhai Zhi Yi""; while few chapters from voluminous chapter novels will be touched. By analying and annotating the texts, students are able to master the social background and culture thinking of the selected novels; thus enhancing student’s knowledge of Chinese classical novels and arousing their interest research in it.
本课程教授中国小说发展的脉络，并引导学生精读中国古典文言和白话小说经典作品。文言小说择取明清笔记及《聊斋志异》代表性的作品研读；白话小说则以明代拟话本为讲授主体，间及长篇章回小说片断鉴赏。透过文本的分析和诠释以掌握小说涉及的历史背景因素以及文化思维，增进学生的古典小说知识并引起相关领域之研究兴趣。
