This is an introductory course that provides students with the theoretical knowledge and practical tools necessary for the basic understanding of public relations. Students are introduced to the history and evolution of the public relations function in organisations and the public relations theories and principles to enable them to develop a working knowledge of important issues in the contemporary public relations industry.

The objectives of this course are to:


  • Introduce students to the theories, principles and processes that guide the public relations practice.

  • Educate students on issues related to professional public relations.

  • Prepare students for a more advanced level of public relations.
