This course discusses Malaysian Chinese history, including the early overseas Chinese ‘sailing ship’ trade, overseas Chinese labourers, and Chinese political transformation before independence. It also touches on the reforms of Malaysian Chinese community，Malaysian Chinese society and culture before and after independence. The scope includes topics such as Malaysian Chinese politics, economics, education, religion, associations and etc.

本课程旨在讲述马来西亚华人史，包括早期华人的帆船的贸易、华工的拓植，乃至独立前夕大马华人的政治认同的转变等。此门课也对大马华人社会的转型与概况进行宏观的讨论，并在微观上对大马华人在独立前及独立后的社会与文化做探讨与分析，范围涉及华人的政治、经济、教育、宗教、乡团等课题。
